Nucleic Acid Extraction GUI
This project presented several challenges. The foremost challenge was to create a GUI simple enough for users in doctors offices to operate, and at the same time include features allowing scientists and engineers to include different programs for various functions that are transparent to the office user. The advanced features are incorportated in pop up windows. All the pertinent information is sent to a log file (much like the one a scientist or engineer would use in a laboratory). The last machine configuration is automatically recalled when the program is restarted. The communication protocol for the unit is RS232-RS485. Three motors and one pump are controlled by this program.
